Eurozone Producer Price Index down by 0.2% in December
 

The industrial producer prices index fell by 0.2 percent in eurozone nations in December as compared with November, according to a report published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

The indices for the 27 EU nations fell by 0.2 percent as well, according to the report.

The report shows that prices in total industry excluding energy sector decreased by 0.1 percent in both the eurozone and the EU on a monthly base.

In both zones, intermediate goods decreased by 0.2 percent, while capital goods and durable consumer goods remained stable. Non-durable consumer goods remained stable in the eurozone and increased by 0.1 percent in the EU.

As for annual changes, industry prices excluding the energy sector increased by 2.6 percent in the eurozone and by 2.9 percent in EU. Prices in the energy sector rose 9.5 percent and 9.6 percent respectively.

Non-durable consumer goods rose by 3.2 percent in the eurozone and by 3.8 percent in the EU. Intermediate goods increased by 2.8 percent and 3.1 percent respectively. Durable consumer goods gained 2.3 percent in both zones. Capital goods rose by 1.5 percent in the eurozone and by 1.6 percent in the EU.
