German stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index up 68.78 points, or 0.57 percent, to close at 12,124.33 points.

Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.23 percent. Multinational chemical firm Linde and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen rose by 1.65 percent and 1.52 percent respectively.

Chemical and consumer goods company Henkel lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.58 percent. Energy group E.ON down by 1.43 percent. Pharmaceutical company Merck down by 0.87 percent.

Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 269.06 million euros (314.50 million U.S. dollars).
