Singapore Sees Retail Sales up 3 Percent Month-on-month in July
 

Singapore's retail sales grew 3 percent on month on a seasonally adjusted basis in July, the Department of Statistics of Singapore announced on Tuesday.

Excluding motor vehicles, the retail sales rose 2.6 percent month on month in the month.

As for year-on-year changes, the retail sales grew 1.8 percent in July; and the retail sales excluding motor vehicles went up 2.2 percent.

According to the department, the total retail sales value in the month was estimated at 3.7 billion Singapore dollars (about 2.75 billion U.S. dollars), higher than that of 3.6 billion Singapore dollars in the year-earlier period.

Meanwhile, the sales of food and beverage services increased 1.6 percent month on month but decreased 0.5 percent year on year. The sales value was estimated at 723 million Singapore dollars (about 537.77 million U.S. dollars), lower than the 727 million Singapore dollars (about 540.74 million U.S. dollars) in July 2016.
