Assets under Custody of ICBC Reaches RMB 5.8 Trillion
 

In recent years, ICBC has continued to strengthen innovation in custody business and improve its product system and business structure, keeping a solid momentum of growth. Statistics show that by the end of 2014, with the assets under custody of RMB 5.8 trillion, the Bank has maintained its position as the largest custodian bank in China for 16 years. Number of securities investment funds under custody reached 407, with a scale of over RMB 1 trillion, while the scale of enterprise annuity funds under custody exceeded RMB 300 billion, both leading China’s banking sector.

In terms of custody product innovation, ICBC has proactively developed new business growth drive with internet-based means in 2014, and innovatively introduced the custody of paid funds for online fund sales, putting a number of internet monetary funds under custody. Meantime, the Bank has creatively put the first publicly offered fund of securities firm under custody, and developed the custody product for special asset securitization scheme.

In addition, ICBC has continued to accelerate its expansion in global custody business. As at the end of 2014, the Bank’s cross-border custody asset scale exceeded RMB 160 billion, with overseas institutions such as ICBC (Asia), ICBC (USA), ICBC (Europe) and Singapore Branch providing cross-border custody services for over 150 domestic and overseas investment institutions. ICBC’s regional centers of global custody business are increasingly optimized.

In addition, to improve custody services, ICBC has refined the whole domestic and overseas business process from marketing to operation with its in-house IT system, effectively enhancing operation efficiency. The Bank also took the lead in the industry in launching the custody system for stock index futures, commodity futures and treasury bond futures, laying the foundation for developing custody services of financial derivative products. ICBC has exclusively introduced the system for global investment custody services and the system for overseas ESCROW services, providing comprehensive support and guarantee for building a global custody service network.
