Earlier, ICBC edged ahead of nearly 2000 listed companies in China to win "2010 Golden Shield Award" sponsored by the Research Center of Enterprise and Company Law of Peking University and others. ICBC is named "2010 Outstanding China's Listed Company in Legal Risk Management". Winning the award bears testimony to ICBC's compliance operation and excellent legal risk management, in which ICBC has an edge in the country.

"2010 Golden Shield Award – Legal Risk Ranking of China's Listed Companies" presents the practices of legal risk management among the listed companies in the country from legal perspective and reflects their value in a comprehensive, objective and fair manner. The aim is to encourage best practices in legal risk management among them. The Award, first in the country as of today, is presented to the companies with outstanding performance in legal risk management. The survey was highly respected, especially in China's legal field and media. Nominations were received including companies listed in the A-share market, SME Board, ChiNext. 20 finalists were chosen by the judging panel and voted from the public to receive the prizes. ICBC gained wide recognition from the judging panel and the public and won the prize for its commendable efforts in legal risk management.

According to ICBC spokesperson, ICBC has focused on the compliance operation and legal risk control at all times and scored notable result. ICBC has facilitated good corporate governance and met the regulatory requirement. Various legal means were adopted to support the internationalization drive, integrated operation and business innovation. In recent years ICBC has been conferred numerous honors. They were the "Advanced Group in Nationwide Mid-Term 'Five-Five' Law Promotion" from Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ministry of Justice, "Banking and Financial Service In-House Team of the Year" and one of the "In House 10" from Asia Legal Business.
