ICBC "MTR Bank" for World Expo

ICBC recent launch of "MTR bank" in Shanghai, first in the country, soon wedges its way into an army of "Super Force" in serving the World Expo. These MTR banks are the ICBC sub-branches in 4 Shanghai metro stations of People's Square, Zhenping Road, Jingansi and Xujiahui.

The four new "MTR banks" are all located at the central interchange area of Shanghai MTR line. When compared with the conventional "MTR banks" with self-service only, they mark a new departure by having staff and self-service devices at the same time. Each "MTR Bank" underpins great service improvement by having wealth management counters and attended by 2-3 well-experienced customer managers. The ICBC MTR banks not only made the customers have easy access to ATMs to deposit/draw cash, transfer/remit money, check account or print passbook details, they also enables the customers to open account, buy investment product, report loss, apply for credit card, sign up electronic banking or personal financial plan, complicated banking steps that need the help of the customer managers.

According to the ICBC spokesperson, these four underground "MTR banks" and the ubiquitous ICBC outlets in Shanghai offer great accessibility for all the domestic and overseas World Expo visitors who prefer to take MTR in going around Shanghai downtown. Besides, ICBC extends the self-service banking hours of these four "MTR banks" in line with the opening hours of World Expo Park and MTR. Wealth management service is opened till 8 PM to cater for the World Expo visitors.

Shanghai is going to receive some 70 million visitors during this 6-month of World Expo, as related by this ICBC spokesperson. In terms of passenger volume, this means 7-8 million visitors from home and abroad taking Shanghai MTR every day. Such a gargantuan flow of visitor traffic brings an enormous demand of banking services. Currently these four MTR banks of ICBC are running smoothly. ICBC plans to keep this service after the World Expo and build a network of "MTR banks" along the major MTR stations to offer convenient, fast and top banking services to all.
