On August 15th, 2009, Magazine "The Chinese Banker" released "Appraisal Report on Competitiveness of Chinese Commercial Banks in 2009". With striking performance in 2008, ICBC successfully defended its title of "The First of Core Competitiveness Rank of National Commercial Banks of the Year" and obtained two big awards "The Best Risk Management Bank in 2008" and "The Best IT Bank in 2008" in the same selection activity. ICBC won the most and the highest awards among commercial banks in this selection. 

According to sources, "The Chinese Banker" has been making a professional research on China's banking industry since 2003. It has released "Appraisal Report on Competitiveness of Chinese Commercial Banks" for consecutive 4 years from 2005 to 2008 with great influence force in the industry. Taking China's banking industry in global financial crisis as the research object, on the basis of objective data and facts, through constant improvement of analysis method and a lot of onsite investigations, "Appraisal Report on Competitiveness of Chinese Commercial Banks" of this year objectively analyzes the performances of various commercial banks in the macro economic situation. 6 appraisal indicators were employed in the report: development strategy, information technology, organization and process reengineering, human resource, corporate governance as well as product and service.
