At the "2010 Beijing Risk Forum" hosted by the China Foundation for Development of Financial Education in association with the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) in Beijing on January 27, 2010, ICBC snapped the GARP's "2009 Outstanding Risk Management Education Award". The GARP Award is the first time given in China. ICBC is the first and only awardee as of today. ICBC won this award for its commendable efforts in risk management education and training. 

Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) is the worldwide largest as well as most respected professional organization in financial risk management. It is a communication platform for members and offers comprehensive training and educational programs. The Association is instrumental in formulating all the technical specification and rating standard for the current practices and monitoring of financial risk management. GARP programs aim to increase awareness among the members and publics on the potential risks in financial market. GARP's biggest contribution is the FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification programs which are recognized by all the multinational financial institutions, who use these standards to test their staff's ability in managing risk in a real-world environment. Before Basel Agreement in print, GARP was the destination for the Bank for International Settlement (BIS) whenever risk management is concerned and worked with BIS in setting risk standard. Today, GARP is a constitutor and a flagship organization in global risk management.
