ICBC Issues the First Domestic Wealth Management Product Quantitatively Linked to Crude Oil Futures

On March 26, the domestic crude oil futures went public in Shanghai International Energy Exchange. On the first day of listing, ICBC held the “Press Conference for ICBC Wealth Management Product Quantitatively Linked to Crude Oil Futures” in Shanghai and launched the world’s first asset management product quantitatively linked to domestic crude oil futures. The move not only leads the industry but also provides diversified ways for investors to participate in China’s crude oil futures market.

The responsible person from ICBC stated that ICBC’s such wealth management product is a net-worth asset management product with banking wealth management characteristics. It uses fixed income assets to provide customers with low-risk and low-volatility basic earnings, and participates in crude oil futures trading in a quantitative way to share long-term investment returns on crude oil assets with investors. Currently, relying on the independent option pricing capability, commodity exposure risk control and flat trading techniques, ICBC has launched a series of structured quantitatively linked wealth management products, which are based on multiple types of stock indexes, precious metals, commodities and other underlying assets. These products, with reasonable structures, stable earnings and controllable risk, have been well-received by the market and customers, winning large subscriptions.

According to reports, ICBC, owning asset management agencies with the largest scale, the largest number of customers and the most complete product lines at home, is the only Chinese bank with over RMB3 trillion asset under its management. Its asset management products and investments cover all major financial markets at home and abroad, featuring eight categories, namely, currency, fixed income, option, goods, equity, alternatives, foreign currency and cross-border, quantitative and derivative products, which can meet various needs of customers.
