The second summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) officially opened in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province on August 16. As the exclusive bank partner for the Nanjing YOG, ICBC has made careful preparations in terms of service improvement, outlet optimization and channel construction to ensure the efficient operation of banking service during the period of the YOG and offer high-quality financial services to athletes, technical officials, news reporters and the audience participating in the YOG in Nanjing.
Relevant head of ICBC said that according to the characteristics of financial services for the YOG, ICBC has focused on improving the foreign service ability, and divided 165 outlets in Nanjing into core outlets, key outlets, and radiation outlets, to ensure that all outlets in Nanjing can offer services to handle nine foreign currencies, including USD, JPY, HKD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, SGD, and CHF. Furthermore, core outlets and key outlets may exchange 13 foreign currencies. In the Athletes Village and Media Center of the YOG, ICBC has set up two temporary outlets which were open even during holidays and provide customers with services, including RMB deposit and withdrawal, foreign currency exchange, foreign currency outward remittance, traveler's check payment and sales of YOG exclusive products. In the temporary outlets, in addition to the establishment of business handling counters, the self-service foreign exchange machines have also been introduced for the first time, which can help customers exchange five foreign currencies, including USD, HKD, JPY, EUR, and GBP. According to statistics, there were nearly 200 customers from more than 20 countries handling business in the temporary outlets on August 13 when they started business for the first day.
In order to resolve the language barriers when many foreigners are handling financial business, ICBC has set up green channels in outlets of all key areas specially for athletes, technical officials, and staff participating in the YOG, arranged employees with foreign language communication ability and capability of handling complicated business to act as lobby managers, and also established exclusive service windows with foreign languages to ensure the barrier-free foreign services. Meanwhile, ICBC has also selected 15 minority language interpreters nationwide and five foreign employees from its Argentina Branch and deployed them to the two temporary outlets and outlets surrounding sports venues of the YOG to better meet the multilingual service requirements of foreign customers.
In the meantime, in order to reflect the features of the YOG, ICBC has also specially launched 19 YOG-themed precious metal products of ten categories, issued ICBC VISA YOG Souvenir Card and Loving (I) Sports credit cards and youth prepaid cards, which are welcomed by domestic and overseas customers.
