Co-sponsored by ICBC, Standard Bank Group and Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum, “China-Africa Entrepreneurs Forum” Kenya Summit was successfully held in Nairobi, capital of Kenya on July 20 (local time of Kenya). Over 100 business leaders from China and Africa attended the forum to discuss future cooperation between Chinese and African entrepreneurs. During the meeting, Mr. Jiang Jianqing, Chairman of ICBC and Mr. Henry Rotich, Finance Minister of Kenya signed the Infrastructure Development Cooperation Agreement and other economic and trade cooperation agreements.
Chairman Jiang Jianqing said at the forum’s opening ceremony that as one of the major estuaries in East Africa, Kenya is the leader of East African Community. Meanwhile, as the forefront of “One Belt and One Road” strategy in Africa, Kenya is China’s portal and entrepot trade hub in Africa, and the country plays an essential role in the regional economy. The forum developed dialogue and exchange over such major topics as economic cooperation and exchange between the two countries and the investment of Chinese enterprises in Africa to elevate economic cooperation between the two countries to a higher level. ICBC will follow customers to provide comprehensive financial services. According to Mr. Ben Kruger, joint CEO of Standard Bank, Standard Bank will provide the best localized financial services for the bilateral investment between Chinese and South African enterprises as the largest commercial bank in Africa and ICBC’s strategic partner.
“China-Africa Entrepreneurs Forum” is held to introduce Kenya’s investment opportunities to Chinese enterprises, introduce Chinese enterprises’ investment needs and successful experiences to Kenyan government and enterprises, enhance mutual understanding between Chinese and Kenyan enterprises, and lay a solid foundation for Chinese enterprises’ investment in Kenya and cooperation with local enterprises.
