Beijing, May 7, 2010 – Minister of Commerce Chen Deming and ICBC Chairman Jiang Jianqing held discussion and signed the Memorandum on the Support for Enterprises to "Go Global". Also in attendance were the Vice Minister of Commerce Chen Jian, ICBC President Yang Kaisheng and Senior Executive Vice President Yi Huiman.
In the meeting, Minister of Commerce and ICBC exchanged in-depth opinions in upholding the scientific concept of development and encouraging Chinese enterprises to "Go Global" and invest abroad. Both sides agreed that the "Go Global" strategy is of significant importance for the four key goals in mind: first, reinforce China's relationship with other countries, second, improve the level and quality of Chinese industrial structure, third, re-orient the development approach in economy and fourth, achieve sustainable economic development. Both sides agreed to foster closer strategic partnership in supporting Chinese enterprises to be multinational, offering them services to invest overseas, contract overseas project, cooperate in overseas infrastructure construction or export complete sets of equipments.
According to the Memorandum, in view of the situation, challenges and issues for Chinese enterprises to "Go Global", Ministry of Commerce together with ICBC will introduce policy recommendation on the policy promotion, service guarantee and risk control to raise the standard and capability of ICBC to serve for domestic companies to "Go Global". An information communication mechanism will be in place to keep the domestic companies abreast of the State "Go Global" policy, the latest news on the domestic companies to "Go Global" and key projects. Ministry of Commerce supports ICBC to gather its speed and expand overseas network to "Go Global" and offers necessary assistance to ICBC in market study, market entry and business information. ICBC overseas subsidiaries are urged to offer services to the Chinese enterprises starting "Go Global" business in overseas, join and support the commerce associations organized by Chinese companies as well.
