On October 30, 2014, the second Business Summit for Chinese and Dutch Enterprises was successfully held in Beijing, under the co-sponsorship of the municipal government of Beijing, the municipal government of Amsterdam and ICBC. The theme of the summit was promoting bilateral investment, trade and economic cooperation. More than 50 Dutch enterprises and 80 Chinese enterprises attended the event, covering sectors of agriculture, food, energy, chemical engineering, culture, mechanical manufacturing, real estate and transportation. Also present at the summit were over 250 entrepreneurs.
ICBC President Yi Huiman expressed in his speech that in recent years, the Bank has been actively pressing ahead with its internationalization strategy, and set up branches in 40 countries and territories. As Europe is a critical market for the Bank's internationalization strategy, ICBC has established branches in ten European countries including Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain. Amsterdam Branch, since founded in 2011, has committed itself to becoming the first-choice bank for bilateral exchange and cooperation between the two nations, providing premium financial services for cross-border investment and trade between Chinese and Dutch enterprises, and playing an increasingly important role of “bridging” bilateral trade and economic ties.
This summit arranged not only keynote speeches on investment climates and polices by Chinese and Dutch enterprises, industry roundtables and bilateral business experience sharing, but also nearly 80 rounds of business matchmakings between enterprises from the two nations aimed to facilitate direct dialogues in trade and economic cooperation, and establish a solid foundation for mutual trust and communication for friendly cooperation in the future.
At the event, ICBC entered into strategic cooperation agreements respectively with Frieslandcampina Dairy, a Dutch dairy giant, and Meyn, a world-renowned chicken processing equipment manufacturer in the Netherlands. The Bank will dedicate itself to serving the development of the above enterprises around the world and especially in China.
