For the "Best Domestic Bank in China" to ICBC this year, Asiamoney acknowledged that ICBC gains acclaim for its expansion strategy and strength in managing its loan book.

In 2011, ICBC gathered momentum to oversee a change on the business portfolio and growth option and maintains stable and healthy progress by increased competitive edge in all businesses. ICBC developed a framework for managing risks - credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk and operational risk. With risk exposure under control, ICBC's bad loan balance and bad loan rate "both declined" in its twelfth year. Asiamoney emphasized: "The good quality of ICBC loan asset is one of the critical issue for ICBC to win the award. Banks in China are undergoing the interest rate liberalization. ICBC is one of the few banks that can weather the risk and stress."
