Earlier, Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies ("CHKLC") hosted the "CHKLC 10th Anniversary Celebration and 2012 Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Award Gala Dinner". Once again, ICBC received the award for "Main Board Companies - Hang Seng Index Constituent Companies" in recognition of the Bank's excellence and market leadership in this field. ICBC is also the only H-share listed bank to win the award this year.

Corporate Governance Excellence Awards are highly respected in Hong Kong business circle and among the listed companies. The award program was initiated by CHKLC and jointly organized by The Centre of Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University. The awards recognize listed companies advocating a high standard of corporate governance and demonstrating excellence. Now in its sixth year, Corporate Governance Excellence Awards are conferred annually since 2007. The 3-month selection process started in September included nominations, screening and scoring by the experts and Q&A session.

Chairman of judging panel Dr. Ronald D.B. Leung said, "This year we receive the largest number of nominated companies who demonstrate very high standard. We screen out 17 finalists. They have significantly improved their governance over the past few years and achieved stellar performance despite the prevailing uncertainties. Winning companies have clearly defined their objectives on corporate governance, regularly evaluated their practice and implementation progress to meet the requirements of investors." The Gala dinner was honored to have Mr. John Tsang Chun-wah , Financial Secretary of HKSAR Government, Professor K. C. Chan, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, and Mr. Wang Bingxin, Director General of Economic Affairs Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, who also presented the awards to the winning companies.
