The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday went up by 135.56 points or 1.14 percent and closed at 12039.68 points.

German airline Lufthansa gained the most among the blue chips, with its share prices increasing by 3.53 percent. It was followed by energy group RWE and marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse that grew by 2.83 percent and 2.58 percent respectively.

Volkswagen was the only loser of all 30 blue chips by dropping 0.07 percent. Henkel and Infineon technologies gained the least by growing 0.04 percent and 0.06 percent respectively.

Deutsche Bank was the most traded share with a turnover of 265.97 million euros (286.87 million U.S. dollars).
