German stocks closed flat on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 1.21 points, or 0.01 percent, to close at 12,385.70 points.

Marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.18 percent. Renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical and housing association Vonovia rose by 2.19 percent and 1.49 percent respectively.

Tire specialist Continental lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 12.79 percent. Semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and German airlines Lufthansa went down by 1.62 percent and 1.48 percent respectively.

Continental was the most-traded share with a turnover of 678.46 million euros (788.09 million U.S. dollars).
