S. African Stocks Close Higher Friday-March 10
 

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) was firmer on Friday at close, ending a five-day losing streak.

The JSE all share was up 0.7 percent at 51,269.54 points and the blue-chip top 40 added 0.8 percent.

Gold miners led the local market's losers, down by 2.37 percent, with the spot gold price down 0.22 percent to 1,202.1 U.S. dollars an ounce. Industrials led the JSE gains by 1.15 percent followed by the platinum index, up 0.47 percent.

Diversified miners were all firmer, Kumba Iron Ore gained 6.22 percent to R185.19. Platinum miners were mixed. Anglo American Platinum lost 0.4 percent to R185.55. Lonmin gained 3.58 percent to R13.61.

Richemont gained 0.46 percent to R98.9, and Steinhoff traded 0.86 percent higher at R64.4.

Barclays Africa was up 0.05 percent at R150.72, Banking group FirstRand climbed 0.93 percent to R51.22.

Standard Bank was 1.43 percent higher at R155.95.
