Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 5.97 points, or 0.19 percent, to close at 3,137.43.

A total of 2.26 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.20 billion Singapore dollars (852.21 million U.S. dollars). Decliners outnumbered gainers 247 to 203.

The STI index lost 3.75 points, or 0.12 percent, to close at 3,143.40 on Tuesday.
