China has allocated 1.796 billion yuan (281 million U.S. dollars) to upgrade run-down areas in state-owned industrial and mining areas so to provide adequate housing for low-income families, the Ministry of Finance said Wednesday.
The money, the second batch this year, will be used to build infrastructure in run-down areas in 27 provincial-level regions, including Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Liaoning, Henan and Hunan provinces, the ministry said in a statement on its website.
China plans to start building 10 million units of low-income housing this year.
