Macao's unemployment rate for the period of August to October 2010 remained unchanged from the previous period, July to September, standing at 2.9 percent, according to the figures released on Monday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

The city's total labor force was 330,000 in the period, with the labor force participation rate standing at 71.7 percent, the DSEC figures indicated.

The DSEC also said that the number of the local unemployed stood at 9,400 in the period, of which fresh labor force entrants accounted for 19.9 percent, increasing by 0.9 percentage points over the previous period.

In comparison with the same period of 2009, the unemployment rate and underemployment rate between August to October this year decreased by 0.6 and 0.3 percentage point respectively, while the labor force participation rate stayed unchanged, according to the DSEC.
