On Aug. 12th, ICBC officially declared its donation of RMB 5 million to the area in Taiwan hit by Typhoon Morakot. This donation will be delivered to the disaster area through ARATS (Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits) as soon as possible, so as to help our Taiwan compatriots to overcome the difficulties and rebuild their homes.

For days, the worst typhoon in 50 years, Typhoon Morakot, has hit Taiwan severely, causing heavy damage to the mid-south area. All the staff of ICBC has been stricken by the sorrowful news. It is one of the glorious traditions of the China nation that, "when disaster struck, help come from all sides", and ICBC considers it its own social responsibility as a large commercial bank. ICBC is paying close attention to the latest situation of the disaster and the process of disaster relief and reconstruction in the area, and wishes Taiwan compatriots can pull through as soon as possible to return to normal life. At the same time, ICBC has offered its aid to people in the disaster area, and helps them to overcome the difficulties, restore the industry and re-build their homes.
