ICBC Gets the Highest Hits of All Banking Websites in the World
 

Latest poll from Alexa.com, a premier international organization monitoring the website hits across the globe, revealed that ICBC website (www.icbc.com.cn) has secured its place in world Top 500, with an overall ranking in the 479th in recent three months. ICBC.com not only stayed first among all banking websites in China, it also won worldwide consensus to beat Bank of America and became the top global banking website in terms of browsing volume for the first time.

Alexa.com is a third party organization known around the world for monitoring website browsing. Those who usually staying on top of its listing are portals, search engines, infotainment.com and other websites in news, TV, media and broadcasting. Websites from service sectors were seldom found. Yet, ICBC.com, as a specialized websites mainly providing banking services, has been visited by a continuously rising number of visitors in recent years. Average daily hitting rate jumped 113 times from 80,000 in 2002 to 9 million in the early 2007. Insiders related that the figures fully illustrated ICBC.com has taken a larger share of active customers, who are now frequently visiting the site to understand or use ICBC banking services.

Rich financial information, fast and convenient internet banking services continued to produce hugely successful hits on ICBC website. Currently, ICBC.com is the service platform for ICBC to offer banking services to customers. By the end of February 2007, ICBC Internet Banking has swept up 24.91 million personal customers and 640,000 corporate customers. Just over the past two months, its trading volume reached an unprecedented RMB 10 trillion, well ahead of the same period in last year's 25%, where volume of funds traded over Internet Banking was RMB 17.53 billion, or 11.4 times growth when compared to the same period last year.

Over the years, ICBC strived to give latest flavors to a modern website by offering a service platform with the best delivery in services and functions through a rich variety of content and robust results of a website implementation. Today, in addition to being multilingual (Simplified-Chinese, Traditional-Chinese, English) to cater for a diversity of users, ICBC.com launched 9 last year to embrace all financial services such as stock, fund, insurance, gold and personal finance under one umbrella, serving as a sales platform supporting information enquiry, online transaction and interactive exchange. These revolutionized ICBC drew wide support and concern from all securities firms, fund houses and insurance companies. "Online Mall", after changing a new face by including e-commerce, bonus points scheme from ICBC member stores, latest company moves and e-commerce news, successfully caught the "eye-ball" of all customers. Meanwhile, ICBC.com launched the bi-monthly "Happy Money" seminars for giving financial advice over the Internet, a service turned out to be overwhelmingly received by all online users. The opening of "ICBC Working Office" was another successful new promotional channel for extending collaboration between ICBC and customers. ICBC.com gained great measure of concern and loyalty from all users through its rich content, diversified activities and professional advice, the major factors behind the surge of hits on the website.

This year, new priorities will be given on ICBC.com infrastructure. ICBC latest offering on March 9, - "Corporation Edition"- was the first of its kind among the domestic peers. Dedicated to all company organization customers, "Corporation Edition" is a private Internet platform which comes with an array of financial services such as New Highlights, Products, Information, Policy and News. Further, ICBC made the first move among all banks in China to launch a video channel on online banking in early March. ICBC.com successfully extended personal touch by facilitating customers to talk "Face-to-face with Experts" on internet through playing video.

Performance of ICBC Internet Banking also gained full recognition from all domestic and overseas peers as well as mass users. ICBC won the title of "Best Consumer Internet Bank in China" from US Global Finance for three years in a row from 2003 till 2005. ICBC was the winner of "Distinguished Banking Website" in both 2004 and 2005 in the investors' favored "China Distinguished Financial-Economic Securities Website". During the 2005 China Internet Industry Survey organized by China Internet Association, ICBC Internet Banking was elected to the top by all internet users in "China Internet Industry Brand- TOP 50", sitting right in the first place of all Internet Banking in China. Just recently, ICBC Internet Banking won again the crown of "2006 China Internet Banking", an evaluation poll organized by Hexun.com and snapped three awards from "User Satisfactory Survey- China e-Commerce Association".
