"Harmonious Asian Games, Rising Guangzhou....." In annual temple fair of South Sea God Temple, thousands of Guangzhou' s citizens were shouting slogan of Asian Games in rains, which added a fresh time breath to Boluodan, a temple fair of 1,000 years.

The temple fair of South Sea God Temple took place from the 10th day to the 13th day of February of every lunar year, also called "Boluodan", one of the biggest temple fairs in Pearl River Delta area. The 7th day of March was the 1415th anniversary of South Sea God Temple, a big day for many blessing prayers.  

It was cold in early spring, but the passion of local visitors on Asian Games was never reduced. On hearing the news, tens of thousands temple fair visitors and tourists arrived here before the activity, tightly surrounding the plaza before the temple.

A song of welcoming guests, and five lovely lambs –The mascots of Guangzhou Asian Games "A Xiang, A He, A Ru, A Yi and Le Yang Yang" debuted before this ancient temple of 1,000 years, starting the prelude of the 5th Guangzhou Folk Custom Culture Festival & Huangpu "Boluodan" 1,000- year Temple Fair activity. The Sacrificing Sea Ceremony began at 10:00 am. Wearing dresses of Qing Dynasty, the members of folk organizations from 15-town Sodality of Huangpu District, Guangzhou, held Sacrificing Sea Ceremony in an ancient way on the plaza before the temple. With grand manner, the ceremony re-showed the event that folks were worshipping South Sea God in Qing Dynasty.

After the Ceremony, accompanied with happy music, 200 children performed Latin before the temple. Asian Games exhibition zone also attracted many visitors. In "Leave Message to Asian Games" zone, citizens wrote down their wishes and blesses for Asian Games. Qin Mei, a citizen of Huangpu District, Guangzhou, said, "We come here just for Cheering Asian Games and our Guangzhou!" 

According to introduction of Zhang Runhua, Vice Director of Guangzhou Cultural Bureau, Huangpu "Boluodan" 1,000- year Temple Fair was one of the origins of folk culture in Guangzhou, even Pearl River Delta area. The time-honored folk arts have been established after popularity. They have been passed down from generation to generation during thousands of years and formed diverse colorful expression methods.
