Recently, Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee held a Pressure Conference announcing torch relay of Guangzhou Asian Games would be limited in cities in China, and overseas relay had been gave up. He Jiqing, Director of Ceremony and Culture Department of Asian Games Organizing Committee said, this decision was made based on two principles: 1. Frugal Asian Games, 2. Innovation.  

According to primary plan of Torch Relay of Guangzhou Asian Games, Torch Lighting Ceremony will take place in late August of next year, and then Torch Relay will be started until Asian Games Opening Ceremony on the 12th day of November was over. Asian Games Torch will arrive at Guangzhou to start a 3-day delay activity from the 10th day to the 12th day of November of the next year. As to reporter's question "If the decision on giving up overseas torch delay is related to safety factor", He Jiqing said, the plan had been made primarily and it is unnecessary to consider this question.

Through approval of the 4th Executive Committee of Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee on the 26th day of last December, the torch delay of Guangzhou Asian Games will take place in the cities within China. Presently appraisal and deep research on the delay routes are ongoing and the concrete implementation plan is predicted to be released at the end of this year after approval of Olympic Council of Asia together with torch delay theme.
