The French central bank, Banque de France (BdF) on Monday announced a 0.3-percent GDP growth of France in the second quarter of 2018, confirming a previous estimation on expected momentum in industrial and services businesses.

At the end of June "industrial production rebounded sharply, in particular in the capital goods, automobile and metal sectors... (and) remained strong in the agri-food, chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors," the bank said.

Over the period, the capacity utilisation gained one percentage point to stand at 80.1 percent, BdF data showed.

Fo this month, business leaders expect industrial activity to keep growing.

As to services sector, "activity picked up significantly, especially in consulting, technical services, IT and temporary work. Transport and accommodation and food services gained ground," the BdF noted in its monthly report, expecting a substantial growth in the short term.

Last month, the business sentiment indicator in industry was at 101 while that of services was unchanged at 103, up from 100 and 102 respectively.

France wants to accelerate its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2 percent for the whole year of 2018.
