Nov 12 – Today, the creative and production team for the opening ceremony opened a press conference following the successful conclusion of Guangzhou Asian Games' opening ceremony.

Being the first speaker at the press conference, Xu Ruisheng, Executive Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, expressed his thanks to all the guests coming to join this nice evening: "Tonight, Guangzhou is the centre of attraction of Asia. Friends from 45 countries gather at the Haixinsha to share this exciting and harmonious moment. We started our journey to Asian Games ever since the first day of 2005 and today we fulfill our dream. Tonight's opening ceremony is a result of all the efforts and support from thousands of participants. I extend my thanks to all on behalf of the team for opening and closing ceremonies. Bless Asia from here."

"The Asian Games opening ceremony may be held successfully", said Chen Weiya, the Chief Director for the opening ceremony of Guangzhou Asian Games, "this is a success of Guangzhou, a success of all those who contribute their efforts. The Pearl River is the source of our creativity, Lingnan gives us imaginative hue. The opening ceremony of Guangzhou Asian Games is unique, a full manifestation of Guangzhou's 'dare to be the first'. "I have a lot to say", said Chen Weiya when talking about his feeling on the opening ceremony. "I may start in the moment when lighting the Asian Games flame – I am excited, happy. But I suddenly feel very reluctant to leave. All these happen very quickly and I don't have the time to recap. The great success received now for the opening ceremony is already a memory. I thank for my colleagues, the production team, the performance team, the teams working on stage and behind. I will remember them forever."

Creative Director Lu Jiankang for the opening ceremony of Guangzhou Asian Games said: "First of all, I have to thank Asian Games to let me have a worldly travel through time and space spanning 20 years. I especially thank Guangzhou Municipal Government to embrace our bold creativity of the opening ceremony, and agree to use Haixinsha as the venue so that everybody can enjoy, and for us to stage the opening ceremony to all corners, from different dimensions, in different levels. I thank all the performers, staffs and all unknown heroes during these two years of preparation. It is exactly all these little contributions from everybody that let us stage this spectacular opening ceremony which is promised to be a chapter in the Asian Games history". 

Guangzhou Asian Games Operation Director Jiang Haoyang stated that it was a very creative idea to stage the opening ceremony at Haixinsha. Yet this brought lots of problems and issues to the staff. "Guangzhou people have their 17-year dream fulfilled finally", said Jiang Haoyang, "we worked through more than 600 sleepless nights. All the great efforts from everybody finally turned into a successful opening ceremony today".
