Guangzhou Folks are the Stars at the Gala Evening to Start the 100-day Countdown to Asian Games

In the afternoon of July 24 - Wang Xiaoling, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Guangzhou Committee, Director of the Publicity Department of the Guangzhou Municipal CPC Committee, Group Leader of the Promotion and Media Services of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, announced the promotion on the 100-day countdown to the Guangzhou Asian Games at the press conference opened by the Guangzhou News Center today. Being the most important activity of the Countdown, the upcoming Gala Evening at the Tianhe Stadium on August 4 will be packed by the media journalists and reporters. As related, the center of the attraction of the gala evening is the Guangzhou residents. One of the highlights of the evening will be the singing of the Asian Games songs by the city folks, municipal government departments, army and children formed in ten matrixes.

During the period from July 19 to August 10 Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City and Asian Games Organizing Committee are organizing a series of events to celebrate the Asian Games 100-day Countdown. "Ready for the Asian Games", "City of Celebration for the Asian Games", "New Guangzhou, New Style" are some of the key contents to draw everybody nationwide in a new frenzy of Asian Games. Among the celebration is the important date of August 4 to start the 100-day Countdown to the Guangzhou Asian Games. The upcoming 100-minute gala evening at the Tianhe Stadium with the theme "Waiting for this Moment" will be graced by numerous famous singers like Han Hong, Tan Jing and Han Lei.

However, this time the gala evening shows slight change. The biggest difference when compared to former occasions is that the ordinary Guangzhou folks are the starlets instead of the celebrities. According to He Jiqing, the head of the Ceremonies and Cultural Events Department of Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, among the ten matrixes formed by the city folks, municipal government departments, army and children to sing the Asian Games songs, only one of them comes from professional singers. The rest are just the most ordinary Guangzhou people. He Jiqing said that they sing well judging from their practices so far, nothing inferior to the professional in any standard. The CCTV-3 will broadcast the gala evening live.

Other exciting events for the 100-day Countdown are the announcement of the Guangzhou Asian Games Theme Song, the winners of Guangzhou Asian Games Competition for Youngsters (Painting, Writing, Talent Show) and the Guangzhou City Development for Asian Games.
