The Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee recently announced the progress of hands-on training carried out by the police on the security of the Guangzhou Asian Games. The police have step up the security preparation, carrying out all kinds of training and drilling, in order to achieve the goal of "Safe Asian Games".
At the fifth meeting of the Executive Committee of Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, the Director of the General Administration of Sport of China Liu Peng stressed that to have successful Asian Games, we must first pay close attention to and do a good job in safety and security work.
As introduced by Cai Guilan, the Deputy Director of Safety and Security Department of Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, following the training-first principle for the Asian Games security work, Guangzhou police developed a training plan as early as three years ago and compiled training materials of more than 300,000 characters based on the actual needs in Asian Games security work, including General Training Material on Common Knowledge of Asian Games Security and 100 English Sentences for Guangzhou Police. They carried out hands-on trainings in more than 30 specific security operation areas such as sports venue security management standard, large event security management, traffic management, fire safety, emergency rescue, evacuation procedures, anti-terrorism and anti-riot, emergency handling, knowledge of the Asian Games, international etiquette and so on, to familiarize all security staff of the Asian Games with their jobs, responsibilities and skills, and to vigorously enhance the practical adaptive capacity and emergency handling capacity of the professional security team.
Cai Guilan revealed that since this May, Guangzhou police has organized cross-regional deployment/large sports event security drill, large-scale emergency handling drill, and the border patrol detachment has organized a joint logistic drill at sea. Next, Guangzhou police will organize a number of departments to participate in a series of drills during various celebration events and major sports events. Police in Fo Shan and Dong Guan will also organize a number of trainings and practical drills to comprehensively test the security operation for the Asian Games.
