Recently, Guangzhou Hengyun D Plant integration system project was officially initiated. Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau said, once put into production, this power line will solve the power transmission restriction problem of Hengyun Power Plant, and will further strengthen the power grid structure in east Guangzhou, which will contribute to the power supply support to the 2010 Asian Games.
According to the estimation of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau, the maximum load of power usage in Guangzhou area will exceed 10 million KW in 2009 and will reach 10.30 million KW, up 5.68% from the previous year, which is a significant growth rate compared to 2008.
According to Rong Jun, the Deputy Director of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau, the investment to power grid construction has been very large each year, however, there is still a problem of local bottleneck. Currently, the primary grid architecture in Guangzhou is still rather weak and its capacity to resist severe accidents is still not strong enough, furthermore, the overloading problem of 220KV and above equipments is prominent. During this summer, the structural power shortage in Guangzhou grid was still as high as 0.3-0.5 million KW.
Guangzhou Hengyun Thermal Power D Plant is a controlled subsidiary of Guangzhou Hengyun Enterprises Holding Ltd. Due to the limited capacity of temporary power line, the two sets of the power generators at D Plant cannot work at full capacity and the problem of power transmission restriction is fairly severe. Guangzhou Hengyun D Plant integration system project is a key grid construction project of Guangzhou. With a total investment of RMB 530 million, the project is planned to be completed on September 30 this year.
Rong Jun said, once put into production, this power line will enable Guangzhou Hengyun Power Plant to increase power production by 600,000 KW and completely solve the problem of power transmission restriction at Hengyun Power Plant, which will greatly ease the power supply stress at Guangzhou, especially its development area and Zengcheng city. Meanwhile, this project will also contribute to the power supply support to the 2010 Asian Games and the economic construction and development of the east Guangzhou.
