Independent brand passenger vehicle of Guangzhou Automobile Group will be put into production and debut in the next year as service vehicles of Asian Games. Yesterday Zhang Fangyou, Representative of the Provincial People's Congress of Guangdong and Chairman of Guangzhou Automobile Group said, the financial crisis would have no influence on independent innovative brand launch of Guangzhou Automobile Group. He disclosed, environment-friendly energy-saving hybrid buses had entered into "Road Examination" phase and wait to be tested on some roads like Dongfeng Road.

With the background of common depression of international auto industry, will Auto Guangzhou postpone launch schedule of independent brands? "Our goal will be never changed. We will put into production before Asian Games the next year to sponsor the event". He said, independent brand passenger vehicles will be used to receive guests together with Guangzhou Honda and Guangzhou Toyota.

He also said, Asian Games service vehicles would take experience in Beijing Olympic Games as reference, "the closer to core zone the place is, the more environment-friendly the Asian Games service vehicles are", i.e., pure electric vehicles are to be used in venues, electric – gas hybrid vehicles are to be used between vehicles, and vehicles adopting traditional drive are to be used on the most outer areas. Guangzhou's citizens will experience hybrid buses after Asian Games at latest.  

Suggest government put priority on purchase of independent brand vehicles

Mr. Zhang Fangyou said, presently auto industry adjustment and revitalization plan of the state had been launched. He suggested that Guangzhou launch the plans and supporting policies showing Guangdong's auto consumption market feature according to overall deposition and requirements of the state and further strengthen support on independent brand vehicles. He also suggested that governments of all levels in Guangdong implement the system of limiting government purchase and order of independent brand passenger vehicles, and put priority on purchase of independent brand passenger vehicles of Guangzhou on the premise that prices, quality and performances are close respectively.
